CCS Services - How We Can Help
The Search Begins
We want to know you. We will spend time with you and your parents getting to the heart of your personality, interests, and aspirations. In addition, we will ask you to complete one or more assessments that will help us match your strengths and interests with college majors and minors and career choices. This exercise will help us find college environments where you can grow emotionally, intellectually and socially.
CCS will match you with a list of schools based on our conversations, your assessment results, your educational needs, and our first-hand knowledge of hundreds of colleges and universities.
CCS staff will:
- investigate availability of your area of study
- assess specific programs based on your personal learning style
- compile information on extracurricular activities
- make suggestions that will help you make the most of your college visits
- work with you on your interview skills

Career Planning . . . We'll Show You the Way
It is becoming increasingly more important that you understand the need for careful planning when making decisions about college. Before you invest a tremendous amount of time and money pursuing a college degree and career, we recommend taking some time to investigate your individual talents, abilities and interests.
Students who are well matched to their colleges are more likely to succeed in school and also better prepared to face the challenges of their careers.
We'll ask you to complete a few assessments about your chosen career path.
Then CCS counselors will:
- interpret your answers to make sure that your abilities, attitudes and talents "match" your career goals
- suggest possible college majors, fields of study and potential careers
- provide you with written reports on the results of the surveys and assessments you have completed

Financial
Planning
College is expensive. Next to purchasing a home, college may be your family's largest financial investment. We understand the financial concerns that may influence your college selections.
We also know that financial assistance is available. We encourage students to apply to all of the colleges that they are interested in despite the initial costs. Financial aid packages vary from college to college. Some institutions base assistance solely on need while others reward scholastic achievement.
CCS will:
- provide you with an understanding of the terminology of financial aid
- guide you to web sites and other sources of financial aid information
- refer you to colleagues who specialize in helping families with college expenses
- help you to interpret the Student Aid Report
