Why College Consulting Services?

College Consulting Services begins working with students as early as freshman and sophomore year. We provide advice on course selection, extracurricular activities, summer experiences, and standardized testing. By administering a Learning and Study Strategies Inventory, we provide feedback to students on improving study skills.

We get to know students one-on-one to understand their priorities, interests, and goals. We ask questions, review transcripts and test scores, and discuss the student’s strengths and aspirations. We administer additional assessments which analyze the student’s personal styles and give us information on potential career interests.

College Consulting Services then develops a unique list of colleges based on our conversations, the student’s educational needs, his assessment results, and our knowledge of hundreds of colleges and universities. This process is in accord with our mission of helping students to find their way to a college where they will be happy and thrive academically - a college that is the right fit.

We help to structure the process by setting a timeline for planning college visits, taking standardized tests, establishing the apply-to list and completing the various components of the college applications. We understand what makes a compelling college essay. By brainstorming essay topics with students and editing drafts, we ensure that students develop an effective essay that they will be proud of. Mock interviews help to prepare students and take away that fear of the unknown. Our work with students helps them to understand themselves better, to establish useful priorities, and to take steps toward reaching their ultimate goals.
